Drapers’ Hall goes digital

The famous Drapers' Hall in London chose Octink to help it temporarily replace a magnificent Gobelin silk woven tapestry when the original was sent for maintenance repairs. Created in the reign of King Louis XV of France, the tapestry was purchased by The Drapers’ Company in 1881. From a high resolution photograph, its original details were captured and then printed by us onto a rafa canvas.

The digitally printed ‘tapestry’ now adorns the walls of the court dining room, which dates back to the 1600’s. It was a huge compliment to learn that The Company’s Hall Committee (responsible for the art and fabric of the hall) have been unanimously full of praise for the facsimile tapestry. It has been pointed out to governors during their visits, and they have all marvelled at the clarity and high quality of the reproduction, says a representative from The Drapers' Company.
