The Octink Events Team played a full role at Rugby World Cup 2015. Several months in the planning , in excess of 1,750 metres of graphics were produced and installed across all major venues, transforming stadium hospitality areas into sponsor branded experiences for the duration of the tournament .
Our brief, from one of the world’s leading live event marketing agencies who selected us based on our experience in managing large multi-venue sports and lifestyle events, was to brand 28 spaces at six of the tournament venues – Millennium Stadium in Cardiff, Villa Park in Birmingham, Kingsholm Stadium in Gloucester, Wembley Stadium in North London, The Stadium at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park and the home of England rugby, Twickenham Stadium.
Our first challenge was that all branding installed had be temporary, with no screws or other permanent fixings allowed, yet the installation still needed to be robust enough to last for the duration of the six-week tournament. Drawing on our experience in events and temporary promotional spaces, our solution was to use a combination of removable vinyls and canvas graphics.
Another challenge was that although our management of the project began in January, production lead times were tight due to the period between artwork sign-off and installation. We produced 1,750 metres of graphics in only six days, with production managed by a dedicated project team who collated, packed and labelled everything to match a detailed site installation plan.
Over the nine days preceding the tournament kick-off, our 28-person installation crew installed 1,700 metres of removable vinyls and wall coverings and 150 metres of canvas graphics across the six stadiums, fitting out 28 different spaces ranging from individual hospitality suites to entire floors, a testament to our great production capability and project management skills.
