Angry Birds 2 Launch Event in Cannes

Octink were thrilled to work once again with our friends at Slick Productions and Sony Pictures, this time providing event graphics for the Angry Birds 2 launch in Sunny Cannes! It was hosted on the private beach and pier owned by the Intercontinental Hotel. The event would include multi stage levels, characters in costume, a press photo call, and obviously the product launch event for the new Angry Birds movie.

Not only is was Angry Birds 2 the next installment in a successful movie franchise, it's also based on one of the most popular mobile games today, with millions of players around the world. Octink's job was to provide event branding for the launch. However, an extra level of event planning was required as if anything went wrong on site during install, it would have to be fixed there and then with no time to create or courier new graphics. This meant a significant amount of testing was completed at our facility in Brentford so everything ran smoothly.

In detail, we wrapped structures and trussing using PVC banners printed in stunning detail on our UV printers. The giant slingshot made famous for slinging birds at bad piggies in the Angry Bird game was wrapped in strong yet flexible printed plastic sheets cut to shape. A number of lollipop signs were produced with various printed ACM branding elements. Chiefly, we provided printed ACM branding to the front and sides of the main centrepiece of the event. This centrepiece was a 5 metre by 5 metre cube, that featured characters from the movie on a hinge at the top. Using the giant slingshot mentioned earlier, birds would be fired at this centrepiece, knocking down the hinged system at the top and mimicking the friendly bird flinging fun depicted in the game.
