Formally opened in September 2017, The Lexicon, Bracknell represents one of the largest urban regeneration schemes completed in recent times. As main contractors for the project, Mace challenged Octink to bring together the scheme's architectural signage concepts to life by designing, prototyping, manufacturing and installing eighty projecting blade signs to each and every new shop front.
Having worked successfully on Mace projects previously our capabilities and skills to work closely with all stakeholders were vital, as was our ability to interpret the design brief to ultimately produce a custom-made illuminated signage scheme that complemented exactly the visually eye-catching architectural impact of every new shopfront.
Although all the main retail signage units were the same, most had their own unique fixing method and therefore careful co-ordination of works with fellow trades was also essential throughout the development phase to ensure that nothing was missed and that the program of works was adhered to.
As an architectural signage scheme, this project was tough and challenging throughout, but which ultimately brought out the best in us in terms of working as a team with all stakeholders, planning, communication, execution and installation.
"A fantastic result and a big thank you to you and your team for all your hard work and staying here to the last to get everything completed in time for the grand opening!" - Mace PLC
